Lake Eufaula Fishing Report July 2019

GON Staff | June 25, 2019

Eufaula: Level: Full pool. Temp: Upper 80s. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass: Tournament pro Les Bratcher (#bigbitebaits #alxrods), of Big Bite Baits, reports, “Lake Eufaula is in summer mode right now. Anglers can enjoy an early topwater bite, and then they can move out to deep structure to get bites. There have been good catches of Eufaula bass on frogs and buzzbaits the last couple of days. The best part of the action is early, but some guys will hang with the shallow bite throughout the day around lily pads. Eufaula’s summer bite has evolved with more bass staying in the thick pads and grass than they used to. The deep-water anglers are finding and targeting schools of bass on the ledges. Anglers are using jigs, swimbaits, plastics of all varieties, and of course big deep-diving crankbaits, especially when there is current. If you like to fish deep, it is a really good time to plan a trip to Eufaula. The lake will pretty much stay the same for the next couple weeks. Tight lines, and go enjoy a day on the lake.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “The rain and clouds have cooled down the water a little. The morning frog bite has been really good. Fishing crankbaits on the drops near any cover is also catching nice bass. Slow is the answer to a good stringer of bass. If you can’t keep your deeper crankbaits in the strike zone long enough, try rigging it on a Carolina rig, and dredge it as slow as you wish. Shad colors are a good choice.”
