Lake Eufaula Fishing Report July 2014

GON Staff | June 26, 2014

Eufaula: Level: 1.2 feet above full pool. Temp: 82 degrees. Clarity: Stained to muddy.

Bass: Sam Williams reports, “The fronts and constant weather changes are still keep the fish confused, and it’s keeping the fishermen on their toes. The full moon last month set up some great fishing for the Alabama Children’s Classic Bass Tournament. It took 22.81 pounds for Jeff and Paul Aul to win. The fishing was excellent—we paid 15 places, and 18.31 pounds did not get a check. The shallow bite was really hot. Jigs worked tight in the cover were getting good fish. Spinnerbaits were getting short strikes, but when we added the trailer hooks, hook-ups were constant. I was told by one of the fishermen at the scales that the deep fish on the ledges are hitting big crankbaits and big worms on Carolina rigs.”

Bream:
“Bluegills and shellcrackers are doing great around the overhanging brush on the banks,” Sam said.

Catfish:
“The catfish are really hitting, and jug fishing has been good. It’s lots of good eating and fun for the kids to watch the jugs jumping and running while you get close enough to pick up the jug,” Sam said.
