Lake Eufaula Fishing Report January 2016

GON Staff | December 22, 2015

Eufaula: Level: 1.7 feet below 190 pool. Temp: Mid 50s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Tournament angler Les Bratcher reports, “Lake Eufaula is in its usual December mode with fish being scattered all over the lake. The majority of the anglers are in the deer hunting mode, and fishing reports are scattered. There have been several reports of some good strings being caught on jigging spoons deep. The hydrilla is beginning to die and sink due to the cold water.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “The recent winds and heavy rain has the river and the creeks muddy. The main river is clearing out a little better. The bass are looking for warmer water and are on the drops around cover. Slow-moving baits are the trick during winter patterns.”

Catfish: Sam Williams reports, “Catfish love the muddy water. The scent from bait travels better. Cut bait is the best choice. Some huge catfish are coming out of Barbour and Cowikee creeks.”
