Lake Eufaula Fishing Report February 2017

GON Staff | February 1, 2017

Eufaula: Level: 0.7 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: Mid to upper 60s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Tournament angler David Lowery reports, “Bass fishing at Eufaula has been good with the warm temperatures. The water temperature are in the mid to even high 60s. The fish are up shallow in the grass feeding heavy. You can catch them swimming a Big Bite Cane Thumper through the grass in pearl white and black blue. Also, a 5-inch Fighting Frog on a 3/16-oz. lead on the edge of grass will work now through February. Try black-blue or green pumpkin. Spinnerbaits and ChatterBaits will also work. If we have some cool weather, the fish should back off to rock banks. A flat-side crankbait will work then along with the Fighting Frog.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “The early January storms have relieved the drought with more than 10 inches of rain. It also left the river muddy. West Point Lake has been very low, and with the rising water, there will bring muddy water coming down our way for a while. February promises to offer good bass fishing on Lake Eufaula as the water clears up. Noisy baits such as Rat-L-Traps and buzzbaits worked slowly will generate a strike around cover. Big jigs with rattles and ChatterBaits will work, as well.”
