Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – April 2025

Eufaula: Level: 1.2 feet above 188. Temp: 56-64 degrees. Clarity: Muddy to stained. 

Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, with Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The river is remaining high and stable. All the rain and winds have kept it nasty. The bass that are being caught have roe in them at various stages. There is some warmer water down south around some rock structure where they have begun to bed. Some of the bass being caught have their tails roughed up from fanning beds. The fish are in great shape, and this spring promises to be great fishing on Lake Eufaula. Bass are being caught shallow near these rocky banks where the water is a little warmer. They are still hitting stick baits in red/black, also Trick Worms in watermelon candy and blue and black. Red is always a good color to use in the dirty water. Deeper fish are eating Carolina rigs worked slow with big black worms. Heavy jigs with large creature baits in dark colors are also doing well.”

Multiple Species: Capt. Sam Williams, with Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “Crappie are still in deeper water holding on structure. Minnows and minnow-tipped jigs are the trick here. Panfish are near the bank cover, and wigglers are best right now. Catfish are moving and in the creeks. Bottom fishermen are using crawlers and cutbait. The jug fishermen are not very plentiful right now in these high winds. You can not keep up with them when they are blown all over the river. It will all settle down after Easter. The ospreys are showing up but have not started moving sticks to the platforms yet. When they do, that will let you know spring is really here. Watch the winds, the river can get dangerous in a hurry. There are plenty of ramps up and down the river to launch and make short runs to get into the creeks where it is safer. Pray for all our heroes in uniform and their families as they go out to protect us. Pray for one another as God commanded us to love one another. Pray for our Nation to get on our knees and ask Jesus into our hearts and souls. If this were to happen, there would be no room for the hate that has taken over so many. Jesus did not hate, and with Him in our  hearts, we could not either.”
