Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – September 2019

GON Staff | August 28, 2019

Blue Ridge: Level: 4 feet below full pool. Temp: 84-85 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “The lake has already started coming down some, and TVA should start pulling it down even more after Labor Day weekend. With fall weather just around the corner, we should start seeing some cooler nights and mornings, and this should start making the fish active, and we will start seeing some schooling fish. I’m going to be working a variety of topwater baits around flats and points, like a Strike King Sexy Dawg, a Whopper Plooper and a Pop-R. Once schooling fish bust up the school of baitfish, try a 2.75-inch Strike King Rage Swimmer on a 1/8-oz. swimbait head. Also, try a Silver Buddy. After a couple hours of chasing schoolers and throwing topwater, I’m going to try throwing a drop shot with a 4.5-inch Roboworm, a 3.5-inch tube and a Z-Man Ned rig. By midday, I’m going to start up the river fishing laydowns and backs of pockets with a 3/8-oz. pb/j colored jig and a shaky head. We are just a few weeks away from the best time of year to fish. Good luck.”
