Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – September 2017

GON Staff | August 30, 2017

Blue Ridge: Level: 5.5 feet below full pool. Temp: 84-85 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide: Eric Welch reports, “The fishing seems to be picking up. There is starting to be a topwater bite the first couple hours after daylight. Look for them breaking on the flats and main body. The baits we’ve been using have been a Strike King Sexy Dawg, a KVD Splash and a Whopper Plopper. There are some good-sized fish breaking. You may have to chase them around, and look for baitfish on your electronics. When you find the bait, there are some bass not far behind or below them. Once the sun gets up, you can catch fish up the river on the shady banks using a drop shot in 10 to 25 feet of water. The bass fishing should just keep getting better as Blue Ridge starts dropping for winter.”
