Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – May 2020

GON Staff | April 30, 2020

Blue Ridge: Level: 2.5 feet low. Temp: 61-63 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “Fishing is getting good. The spotted bass are trying to spawn on rock, long points and flats. Fish a Z-Man Ned rig, a drop shot, a tube and a Strike King 3.25-inch swimbait. Largemouth are trying to bed in the backs of coves or around cover. I’ve been targeting these fish with a Strike King 3.25-inch swimbait, also swimming a Strike King Rage Craw. This bite should last until the middle of the month, and then the fish will be around docks and trees protecting the fry. Then we will start throwing Trick Worms and flukes around these areas. By the end of the month, bass will start feeding heavy to gain the weight back they lost while spawning. I’ll be starting my mornings out throwing a Strike King Sexy Dawg and a Pop-R. The deep bite with a Texas rig, a drop shot and a shaky head should work.”
