Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – May 2019

GON Staff | April 30, 2019

Blue Ridge: Level: 6 inches below full. Temp: 65-68 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “Some largemouth are bedding, and some are cruising around the backs of pockets. For these fish, try throwing a 3.75 Strike King Rage Swimmer and a Strike King Rage Craw on a shaky head. If you find any on bed, try flipping the Rage Craw and a 3.5-inch tube. The spotted bass and the smallmouth are about done with their spawns, so you can still find them staging around the rocky spawning areas before they move back out deep. Try a Ned rig with a Z-Man TRD worm in green pumpkin, a Neko rig and a 3.5-inch tube. With the water up around the trees and brush, it’s a good month to start throwing Trick Worms and flukes. At first light there has been some breaking fish, so I would keep a Strike King Sexy Dawg and a Whopper Plooper tied on.”
