Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report May 2017

GON Staff | April 26, 2017

Blue Ridge: Level: 8 feet below full pool. Temp: 65-68 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “The fishing has been awesome. The spotted bass are all over the lake in spawning flats and off points. We’ve been targeting them with tubes, small jigs, Strike King KVD 200 series jerkbaits and Sexy Dawg Jr’s. The largemouth are spawning and cruising in the backs of the pockets. You can target them with swim jigs, flukes and swimbaits. With the spawn coming to a end in the next couple of weeks, the topwater bite should pick up. Start throwing a fluke or Trick Worm around docks and laydowns.”

Walleye: Guide Eric Welch reports, “The blueback herring have been running the banks on sunny days and have pulled the walleye up shallow. We’ve been catching the walleye on tube baits and twisters in the same areas as the spotted bass. Next month should be some great fishing.”
