Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – March 2007

GON Staff | February 27, 2007

Blue Ridge: Level: 16.4 feet below full pool. Temp: 50 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: John Hembree said a No. 5 Shad Rap in Tennessee Shad is an excellent crankbait in March on Blue Ridge for both smallmouths and largemouths. “This time of year, I would stay out on rocky, main-lake points.” This is also the time of year that both smallmouths and walleye move up on the banks after dark. “I would try to get on the lake on moon-lit nights near the full moon and throw a smoke-colored twister-tail grub for walleye and smallmouths,” he said. John recommends moving in close to the banks and making long casts parallel to the bank. Bring the grub back, just ticking the top of the rocks. “On Blue Ridge, you want to stay on any rocky run, and you will catch more walleye and smallmouths.”
