Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report July 2017

GON Staff | June 29, 2017

Blue Ridge: Level: 5.9 feet above full. Temp: 78-80 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “The fishing has been fair. We’ve been getting a lot of rain (expect the lake level to drop quickly from high levels after rains). The bass are scattered in their summer pattern. You will find a lot of fish deep off main-lake points. Target them with a drop shot, shaky head and tube. You can also pick up a few fish around docks with a 3/8-oz. jig and a Zoom Fluke Jr. The brush bite has been getting better up the river, where we’ve been throwing Strike King Fat Baby finesse worms Texas-rigged around laydowns. The topwater bite is not spot-on like last year, but we are picking up some breakers on Strike King Sexy Dawg Jr. If fishing at night, target long points with tubes and Norman DD22 crankbaits.”
