Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report – February 2020

GON Staff | January 30, 2020

Blue Ridge: Level: 15.5 feet low. Temp: 47-48 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “The Float-n-Fly is working on deep banks around the dam and upriver. I try bright colors on cloudy days and natural colors on sunny days. We’ve also been catching fish on 3.5-inch tube and a Ned rig with a Z-Man TRD. Just work it slow like you’re fishing a shaky head. This time of year I use light line when I’m finesse fishing small baits. I’ve been using a Strike King KVD Series 200 jerkbait in the clearwater-minnow color. Also, I’ve been fishing a Strike King Lucky Shad, which is the same size as a Shad Rap. If you find any fish bunched up off a point or in a ditch, try using a chrome or white spoon or a drop shot with a 4.5-inch Roboworm in red crawler. On bright, sunny days, it’s hard to beat an A-rig if there is a little wind.”
