Clarks Hill Lake Fishing Report – October 2023

GON Staff | September 27, 2023

Clarks Hill: Level: 5 feet below 330. Temp: High 70s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: D.J. Hadden with Hadden Outdoors reports that fishing is really fun right now if you like offshore topwater fishing. D.J. says, “I would focus on shoals/humps from the main lake to the middle section of the creeks on the lower end of the lake in 5 to 20 feet of water. Fish are really scattered chasing bait all over. Our herring population is getting back strong and the fish are putting on the weight chasing them. I would attack them with the new Spro Sashimmy 125 or 105 in the chrome or natural herring colors. Topwater baits I would choose are the Berkley Drift Walker or a Gunfish 95 or 115. The shallow bank bite has been really tough with not many numbers being caught shallow. Guys flipping wood on the bank with worms or craw-style baits have had some success. At some point in October, I do feel the buzzbait/plopping bait bites should fire back up. My go-to is the Greenfish Toad Toter with the  Zoom Horny Toad or Uni Toad.” For more on fishing gear and apparel at Hadden Outdoors, go to the Hadden Outdoors Facebook Page.
