Clarks Hill Lake Fishing Report – January 2024

GON Staff | December 28, 2023

Clarks Hill: Level: 8.1 below 330. Temp: 52-56 degrees. Clarity: Very clear.

Bass: D.J. Hadden with Hadden Outdoors  says with the lake low, deep bass will be the major target. Look for them in 20- to 30-plus feet of water in deep ditches and the ends of points that run out to channels. Fish a Greenfish Bad Little Shad jig head with a white or shad-colored Zoom Fluke or Fluke Jr. on it. Try both slow-rolling it right on the bottom or directly under the boat. A drop shot or the Greenfish G-Wagon A-rig should also be ready to fish. If the corps starts to raise the water level, go to the bank, especially early in the morning, and fish a crawfish-colored Greenfish G Flat or Spro RkCrawler on rocks from the bank out to 10 feet deep. Also check out the backs of ditches at daylight for bass chasing baitfish up shallow. Bass often stack up shallow on bait and you can catch them on an underspin or Damiki Vault.
