Clarks Hill Fishing Report October 2014

GON Staff | October 1, 2014

Clarks Hill: Level: 4.1 feet below full pool. Temp: Falling into the 70s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Good. Look for fish to continue pushing shallow as water temps fall. Look for an early bite on Zoom Trick Worms, buzzbaits and Pop-Rs. Later on, fish the edges of the grass or any brush with a 1/4-oz. shaky head worm.

Linesides: Look for hybrids stacked up on the sides of shoals, humps and underwater islands waiting to feed on herring. Downlining live herring and cut bait in 40 to 45 feet will be productive. Small schools of fish should be along the edges of the main channel, an indication that the topwater bite is fixing to crank up. When schooling begins, have a topwater plug ready to catch smaller fish while downlining live bait underneath the schools to catch the larger fish.

Crappie: Fish minnows over brushpiles 15 to 20 feet. South Carolina Little River is a good place to look.
