Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – October 2010

GON Staff | September 29, 2010

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 1 foot below full pool. Temp: Mid to high 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Poor. Dennis Hudson said the fish remain in their summer patterns. There are some bait and a few better fish showing up in the backs of the creeks. Dennis is catching them flipping blowdowns, docks and overhanging brush with a 5/16- or 1/4-oz. jig in brown or green pumpkin. Running a small crankbait through the blowdowns can produce a few fish as well. Also, the 9-lb. sack that won the most recent Tuesday evening tournament was caught off rip-rap in Halawaka. With nothing to show, the anglers hit the rip-rap with shaky heads on the way into the weigh-in and caught their limit within 30 minutes. Dennis said some small schooling fish could show up on the main-lake points when the water is moving. The good night bite that was on last month has disappeared. On into October, if the weather cooperates, it’ll be time to move into the creeks to fish bank cover with small jigs, tubes and creature baits.
