Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report May 2014

GON Staff | April 30, 2014

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.6 feet below full pool. Temp: Lower 60s and rising. Clarity: Creeks are muddy; river has moderate stain and back of some pockets clearing.

Bass: Tournament director Dennis Hudson reports surprisingly good fishing despite heavy rains and some cold nights. “The surface has gone from the 70s back to the low 60s, and it’s going back up again,” he said. “The lake is slap full. It’s taking 20 pounds to win the tournaments, though. Shallow-running square-bill crankbaits are tearing them up, and most people are catching them on red and orange square bills.”

Bream: “The bream just haven’t got started yet, but I suspect that’s about to change the middle of the month,” Dennis said.

Crappie: “The crappie are bedding. People are catching them pretty easy casting jigs to the banks and skipping jigs under the boat docks,” Dennis said.
