Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report July 2013

GON Staff | June 26, 2013

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 1.3 feet above full pool. Temp: Upper 70s to low 80s. Clarity: Mostly clear to slight stain.

Bass: Slow. “It has been a tough year for bass on Bartletts Ferry, and it isn’t getting any better,” says bass-tournament promoter Dennis Hudson. “We had a tournament that took 8 pounds to win last week, and it took 9 pounds the week before. I’m not sure what’s going on. A few people catching some small fish on shaky heads and Texas-rigged worms. They are finally catching a few out of the grass now. There has been no topwater bite yet. We’re usually catching bass pretty good this time of the year. It has been unusually slow. It’s has been the worst year for fishing I have ever seen.”

Bream: “The bream fishing has been kind of slow, too,” Dennis said. “One guy told me he caught 19 on a Beetle Spin. Right now they are being caught in the mouths of pockets and on rocky points. I think it’s about to get better. We’ve got a full moon coming up, and a couple of days ago I saw some mayflies, so we’re about to have a mayfly hatch.”
