Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – December 2023

GON Staff | November 29, 2023

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.8 feet below 521. Temp: 53-56 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Tyler Morgan with Summerland Outdoors reports that December is a good month to catch quality bass. Throw a flat-sided crankbait like a Frittside in ghost morning dawn around main-lake rocky banks and points. Bump bottom from shoreline out as deep as you can. Fish this pattern early on sunny days and all day if it is cloudy. With wind and clouds, also cast a 3/8-oz. mouse-colored War Eagle spinnerbait on the same rocky banks and points. On sunny days, skip a Kyle Welcher Ace Jig in dirty craw with a green-pumpkin Z Craw Jr. trailer under docks. Fish the deepest shade possible.  Tyler loves his Team Lews SP/SLP reel designed with a very shallow spool to help skip without backlashes. If the weather turns unusually cold, which often happens after Christmas, tie on a pro-blue Megabass Vision 110 jerkbait and run it down the sides and across the fronts of docks, especially those with brush. Halawakee Creek usually has the clearest water, which helps the jerkbait bite.”
