Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – December 2010

GON Staff | November 23, 2010

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.2 feet below full pool. Temp: 60-64 degrees. Clarity: Clear green.

Bass:
Pretty good. Dennis Hudson said the bite has picked up since his Saturday tournaments out of Halawaka Creek began in mid November. The fish are schooled up a little bit and chasing small shad around the points and secondary points in the pockets. It’s been taking 10-lb. sacks to get in the money, and several fish in the 3- to 3 1/2-lb. range have been making it to the scales. Most anglers are having the best luck running crankbaits around points and secondary points where there are shad present, and they’re catching largemouths, spots and a few white bass all mixed in together. Dennis likes a crankbait that dives to 4 or 5 feet for this bite, and right now he’s fishing a square-billed Lucky Craft RC 15 in chrome/blue or chartreuse with a blue back. The dock bite is starting to pick up, and on into December it should become established as the primary pattern. Skip a lighter jig or a finesse worm on a shaky head up under docks for some bigger fish. The best color for either bait on Harding is green pumpkin.
