Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – August 2023

GON Staff | July 26, 2023

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.6 below 521. Temp: Upper 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Tyler Morgan said the best advice is to get on the water at first light and be off by 9, most of your fish will come early. You can also fish at night. The hotter water means sticking to the main river run from mid-lake north. Look for grass, from small patches to large beds, and work them with a buzzbait and a frog, then follow up with a Texas-rigged worm. Also, fish small points that form a current break. Current makes the bite much better. Call 706.645.2929 for the corps generation schedule for West Point. Expect the current to take about three hours to reach Blanton Creek from the West Point dam. Keep watching for mayflies, too. There will be small hatches even in August, and bass will feed around them. Fish under the bushes the flies are in with a popping plug, frog or wacky rig. The night bite is good for anything that swims around green underwater dock lights. Fish a swimbait like a 3.3 Keitech on a light jig head to catch bass, crappie and hybrids. A jig or Texas-rigged Ol’ Monster worm will target bass.”
