Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report August 2013

GON Staff | July 31, 2013

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.5 feet below full pool. Temp: 82 degrees. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass: Good. Tournament director Dennis Hudson reports that after a dismal year of bass fishing on Bartletts, things have suddenly picked up dramatically. “We’ve had a lot of mayfly hatches,” he said. “Mayflies have been on everything along the river banks. You can catch the bass on just about any topwater lure you throw out there as long as it is fairly small. Small Pop-Rs seem to be catching the most, but a lot of fishermen are catching them on small floating frogs, too. We’ve tried a little of everything, and it has worked. A lot of the bass are in shallow water waiting for mayflies to hit the water. If they won’t come to the top, you can throw a Net Bait Summer Craw or a Trick Worm in there and catch them.”

Bream:
Excellent. “With the mayflies out, you can go along and throw a Beetle Spin and catch one on about every cast,” Dennis said.
