Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – April 2023

GON Staff | March 29, 2023

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.4 below 521. Temp: 62-65 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Tyler Morgan, of Summerlin Outdoors, fished a Lazy Man’s tournament March 24 and came in second with five weighing 17.09. First had 17.11. He says he has never seen so many fish up spawning on Bartletts Ferry, and more and more will move in between now and the full moon on April 6. You can catch quality largemouth on buzzbaits early, and then go to a weightless, wacky-rigged Senko or Trick Worm. “A good pair of sunglasses is my best friend this time of year,” Tyler said. He will go halfway back in spawning coves and pockets and hit every bit of cover in the back half with a weightless bait after the sun gets up. This will catch postspawn bass the rest of the month, too. For spots, work a shaky head on rocky banks and points. Spots will spawn on the main river, so look for small ledges 4 or 5 feet deep, and fish slowly for spots bedding. They and the largemouth up the river will bed later in the month than the ones he is catching right now in the middle section of the lake.
