WRD’s Fish-n-Learn At Marben PFA

DNR Press Release | December 1, 2021

Marben Staff hosted another Fish-n-Learn 1 on Oct. 8-11 at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center. The participants and their parents learned how to fish for bream and catfish using live bait. Tackle, rod and reels, and a backpack tackle box was provided to each participant.

Friday night classroom time was used to educate the young anglers on the gear, biology of the fish, knot tying and tackle selection. Another great treat is when Fisheries Technician Wes Beard showed them how to cook their catch. A great way to encourage a timid young angler is for he or she to see another child right in the middle of it.

Fish-n-Learn programs are for those aged 8 to 15 and their supervisors. There are three different levels of the Fish-n-Learn program. To keep an eye out for upcoming Fish-n-Learn programs, go to https://georgiawildlife.com/FishAndLearn.
