Truth In Nature Invests In Fatherless Boys
GON Staff | September 1, 2021
Fatherlessness continues to be on the rise in the country today. Current stats show that there are more than 23 million youth growing up in a single-parent home across this nation. Many of these are boys are growing up without a father. These boys do not have an opportunity to share the outdoors with a positive male role model.
Truth in Nature is an outdoor ministry that provides a mentoring opportunity for middle- and high-school-aged boys to experience the outdoors and spend time with a mentor in a group setting. In addition, the heart of Truth in Nature is to share their faith in Jesus Christ as they walk alongside these young men from fatherless homes.
Currently, Truth in Nature is running chapters in seven states. The Georgia chapter has several exciting programs coming up this month (see calendar below).
Programs vary depending on the season. They can entail hunting, fishing, archery, camping, survival or pioneer skills. In the summer months and off season, they can also include canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding or learning some life skills. The programs and ministry are year-round opportunities for the young men attending to engage in a Christian mentoring relationship and an outdoor activity. Many young men spend multiple years within the programs and go on to be successful in life. All of the programs are free of charge after the guardian completes the required paperwork.
There are also opportunities for Christian men to come out and spend time mentoring the next generation. Truth in Nature is also looking to expand its chapters into communities beyond where they are currently serving. Anyone interested in Truth in Nature can visit the website at www.truthinnature.org or email [email protected] to find out more.
As fatherlessness becomes an epidemic across our nation, with God’s guidance, we can reach the next generation of men through His Creation.
