GON Kids – November 2015

A crossbow took out this Franklin County spike for Eli Moore, 6, of Franklin Springs. The velvet-covered spike was taken Sept. 13. Nice hat, Eli!

First Deer Moments

As the old saying goes, “You only kill your first deer once.” So, you better make sure you’ve got good photos to remember it by.

With some great photo advice on the opposite page, we thought we’d use this page to include some examples of good deer photos. In addition, the pictures on this page are from those special “First Deer Moments.”

Max Moorehead, 11, has been hunting since he was 7 years old, but he finally sealed the deal on Oct. 15 while hunting in Talbot County.

One positive common denominator in these five photos are those warm smiles on the kids’ faces.

Dodge County gave up a first deer to Kayla Day, 10, of Forsyth County.

One more piece of photo advice: While we encourage hunters to clean up the blood on their deer the best they can, we don’t mind seeing those red streaks on the faces of young hunters.

Ten-year-old Hailey Via, of Augusta, took her first deer on Oct. 10 while hunting with her dad in Screven County.

It was a proud moment for Brycen Gunby, 7, of Thomson, when he nailed this 6-pointer in Burke County. Brycen was using a .223 rifle.
