Lake Burton Fishing Reports – May 2023
GON Staff | April 26, 2023
Burton: Level: 2.2 feet below 1866.60. Temp: 64 degrees. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: Capt. Tyler Clore reports, “We are still catching largemouth shallow in pockets from 3 to 8 feet. Most of these fish are being caught on a green-pumpkin-seed Trick Worm. The spotted bass bite has been strong off the sides of points using a Keitech swimbait (rainbow shad) and a Senko (watermelon red) rigged on a shaky head. The majority of the spots are in 10 to 15 feet of water. As the water temp rises over the next few weeks, watch for the bluebacks to spawn on the walls. Bluebacks spawn on solid surfaces. You will see balls of bait all over the lake on the seawalls. When you see them, throw your swimbait into the middle of them. The blueback spawn is one of the best times of the year to catch fish.”

Trout: Guide Tyler Clore, of Georgia Cast & Blast, reports, “We have been seeing very brief schooling action first thing in the morning. When we see the schooling, we throw our swimbaits into them. When the trout come up, they haven’t been staying up but for a couple seconds, then they are gone.”
