Carters Lake Fishing Reports – January 2023

GON Staff | December 25, 2022

Carters: Level: 0.5 feet below 1074. Temp: 52 degrees. Clarity: 4 feet.

Walleye: Guide Eric Crowley, of Lake and Stream Guide Service, “Carters has been fishing pretty good. The walleye are not schooled up but in small groups holding near the bottom on points and humps. Also, look for them under spots and stripers feeding on injured baits. Early morning, just after dark and on rainy and overcast days are the best times. Various-sized spoons have been getting the job done, as well as live baits. Camp Branch and the area around the beach have been holding good numbers of fish.”

Linesides: Guide Eric Crowley, of Lake and Stream Guide Service, “The stripers have been eating live baits on flat and downlines early in the creeks. Medium-sized gizzards, big alewives and trout have all been catching fish. The fish seem to be scattered in all the creeks since there is bait everywhere. We’ve been running 12-lb. fluorocarbon and 2/0 circle hooks with good success in most cases. There’s also been some nice walleye mixed in with the stripers, as well as the ever-present spotted bass.”
