Lake Seminole Fishing Report – October 2022

Seminole: Level: 0.9 feet below 77.5. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Mostly clear.

Bass: Guide Aaron Crews reports, “Bass are on a flipping bite as usual. They are on topwater baits but in low-light conditions. The spinnerbait bite is back as they are chasing shad. Ledge fishing with worms, jigs and deep crankbaits are working. Fall transition is coming very soon. The grass on the shallow sandbars will die, as well as shallow grass near the shore. This means bass will move up to feed on the minnows and baitfish on the back sides of the grass. There should be a good jerkbait bite, as well as Trick Worms, Speed Worms and spinnerbaits in the shallow sides of the grassbeds. Even though the water temperature is high, the bass will move to the backs of the grasslines to feed on the schools of minnows. I talked to two fisherman on Sept. 22. They said the frog bite is still there, even during the midday. One of them caught ten bass on a frog. The other has been catching hybrids on humps and sunken islands on spoons, Little Georges and rattletraps.”

Multiple Species: Guide Aaron Crews reports, “Deer hunting on the islands is going on. Bowhunters are killing a few on the side islands and the river bottoms. There is plenty of public land to hunt on. It’s been hot, but we’ve had some cool nights that will improve the fishing. The full moon will be Oct. 9, and the new moon will be Oct. 25. Three days before and three days after these moon phases will be the best times to fish. Crappie are in 12 to 20 feet of water on minnows. The better crappie will be in deeper water of 20 feet. Catfish are mixed in with them. Panfish of all kinds are in 10 to 15 feet of water on wigglers and big reds.”
