Clarks Hill Fishing Report August 2015

Clarks Hill: Level: 2.3 feet below full pool. Temp: 88-91 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Linesides: Guide William Sasser reports, “Water temperatures have moved into the high 80s to low 90s, and fishing is as hot as the weather. The hybrids and stripers have started moving into the deeper, cooler water around 45 to 50 feet deep off of the sides of humps and points on the lower end of the lake. They are holding in tight groups and feeding on passing schools of bait. Downlining live herring on these groups is the most effective method. The only catch is this time of year bait life is not that long, so be sure to take plenty with you. Umbrella rigs are also producing fish trolling them along the edges of the main channel in mid- to lower-lake areas. Toward the end of August as the summer weather starts to break, the fish will start moving a little bit shallower and can be found using the same methods. Just look more toward 30 to 35 feet of water. The oxygen lines are on in the Modoc area and are holding some good slab hybrids in that general area.”
