How I Shot My Deer

Me and my deddy went hunting at this place that his friend let us hunt. We sat down in our hunting blind.

We sat there for a long time, and it was almost dark. We saw many does and yearlings, then my deddy said there was a big buck. I got behind my rifle. The doe and yearling kept getting in the way, so I would not be able to shoot the buck where I am supposed to. I sat there looking for a long time. The doe and yearling finally moved out of the way, so I shot him.

We went to try to find him and had little blood. I was worried that I had made a bad shot. At first, we thought we would have to get somebody with tracking dogs to find him. We got my deddy’s friend and my momma to help us find the deer. We walked all the way through the woods.

Finally, we saw glowing eyes and antlers in the dark. Then we knew we had found him. I had made a great shot. I went over to the deer and took pictures. I was very excited. I have never shot a deer this big. It was huge. We drove the Ranger in the woods to get the deer.

That is the end of the story. I am very thankful that my deddy’s friend for letting me hunt his land, or I may have never got the opportunity to kill a deer this big.
