Lake Sinclair Fishing Reports – December 2020

Sinclair: Level: The lake is still drawn down but scheduled to start filling back up starting on Nov. 29. Temp: 66 in the morning and up to 70 in some pockets in the afternoon. Clarity: The lake is mainly clear with stained water in Little River and Murder Creek areas.

Bass: Tournament angler Karl Pingry reports, “According to Ed of Lakeside Chevron, fishing has been good for the past month. Right now the bite is shallow. Fish Little Earl crankbaits, 1/2-oz. Rat-L-Traps in chrome with blue back, a No. 7 Shad Rap in natural shad and a Berkley crankbait in the same size. Upriver, the nickel and gold turtleback-bladed spinnerbait in white and chartreuse and the KVD square bill 4.0 are the baits of choice. Last but not least, there is a main-lake bite on the docks with an Ol Monster worm and a jig bite in brushpiles near the river channel. Ed commented that if the sun was out, the afternoon bite was much better than the morning bite. With the lake starting to refill on Nov. 29, look for the bass to move up as the water does. Ed says if you can see bait flickering on the surface, the bass are in that area. The good news with the lake refilling is the underwater hazards will be less likely to take off a lower unit. The bad news as the water rises, there will be an influx of floating hazards and debris, so keep an eye out as you run down the lake.”
