Bass: Tournament angler Dennis Hudson reports, “Late summer and early fall are historically tough fishing. This year is no different. Seven to 9 pounds is winning the weekly tournaments right now. Five-fish limits are hard to come by. Shaky heads are probably the most consistent bite getters right now. Green pumpkin and watermelon red are about the best. A few can be caught on hollow-body frogs all day, but be prepared to make a lot of casts between bites. The smaller-sized frogs are a little better. Natural colors are best. Once the water starts to cool, the shad will begin moving into the creeks and coves. Squarebill crankbaits in shad colors will begin to produce. Small buzzbaits and Whopper Plopper topwater plugs can be a lot of fun, too.”
