Lake Sinclair Fishing Reports – August 2020

Sinclair: Level: About 1 below full pool. Temp: 89-91 degrees. Clarity: There’s some stained water in the backs of some of the pockets, and it’s stained to muddy in pockets and creeks above the railroad trestle.

Bass: Tournament angler Karl Pingry reports, “According to Ed at Lakeside Chevron, the bite is on. The KVD Popping Perch in the grass is the hottest bait on the lake. A white or black frog in the grass in the backs of pockets also work. One other lure to have tied on is a merthiolate Trick Worm in the grass. Up above the railroad trestle, the bait to be throwing is a KVD 2.5 square bill crankbait in crawfish or red. A Little Earl or similar diving crankbait is working as long as it is in a crawfish pattern. Some bass are being caught on a chartreuse/silver 1/4-oz. Rat-L-Trap as well. A merthiolate trick worm, a lizard in junebug red or an Ol’ Monster worm in black emerald for flipping around the docks rounds out the arsenal needed to fish the lake right now. Ed said these patterns should hold up for most of August. You can’t go wrong as long as there’s grass. Also, keep an eye on the trees near the bank since there are still mayfly hatches occurring on a regular basis. Use frogs, Pop-Rs and swim jigs in bluegill if you happen upon a hatch. Ed also mentioned that a Strike King Hack Attack Pad Perch has been catching some bass.”
