Lake Allatoona Fishing Report June 2014

Allatoona: Level: 0.1 feet above full pool. Temp: 74 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Matt Driver reports, “June is a month of transition. The spawn is over, and fish begin to migrate back to deeper summer retreats. The early morning topwater bite is great near drop-offs or bluffs. Parallel the shore with a buzzbait and a walking-style bait, like the Spro Dawg. This will slow around 9 a.m. The drop shot pitched to bluff banks and long points is producing numbers. The night bite will continue to get better as the month goes on. Lit boat docks and boat ramps are good places to pick up a few fish on a jig head or a mid-depth crankbait in dark colors. The fish will move to brush mid to late month. Be safe, because the lake is busy this month.”

Linesides: Excellent. Guide Robert Eidson reports, “The river spawn is over, and the fish are back in the main lake. The bite is really good and will only get better as we move into June. The north end of the lake is fishing very well around the Delta, Sweetwater Creek and all the flats down to Little River. There is also a good mid-lake bite from Kellogg Creek to Bartow-Carver. The bite is equally good on the south end of the lake from Red Top all the way to the spillway at Lake Acworth. Our best bite has been coming on larger threadfin shad. We are catching decent numbers on freelines early morning. However, our better bite has been on downlines fished 20 to 24 feet deep off of any main-lake point, mouths of the creeks, flats and humps. Fishing is just awesome right now and should remain good for the next couple of months. Summer is here, so grab the kids and hit your local lake. Fishing doesn’t get any better then it is right now.”
