QDMA Celebrates New National Headquarters With Grand Opening

Of the many national wildlife conservation organizations that are well known to sportsmen, only the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) calls Georgia home. On Saturday, August 6, QDMA will officially open its new, permanent headquarters site near Athens, and Gov. Sonny Perdue will lead the dedication. QDMA members and all hunters interested in learning more about the organization are invited to attend the free Grand Opening event.

“QDMA has been based in Georgia since 1997,” said Executive Director Brian Murphy, “but we are excited that our home in Georgia is now permanent. Georgia hunters are among the nation’s leaders in sound deer and habitat management, and we have a solid foundation here for continued growth at the national level.”

The Quality Deer Management Association recently moved in to its new permanent national headquarters near Bogart.

In 2003, Frank Coggins of Elberton made QDMA’s new headquarters possible by donating 23 acres of land to the organization. QDMA recently completed a permanent headquarters building on the site, which is located in Bogart, just west of Athens.

“The property is perfect for us because it has a variety of habitat types and a thriving deer herd,” said Brian. “We’ll be able to install demonstration areas for food plots and habitat management and host educational events right here at our headquarters.”

The Grand Opening event includes a warehouse sale on QDMA merchandise and educational materials, door prizes, raffles, auctions, tours of the headquarters site and activities for kids.
