Clarks Hill Fishing Report – March 2019

Clarks Hill: Level: 2.8 feet low. Temp: 53-55 degrees. Clarity: Stained in the rivers and clear on the lower lake by the dam.

Bass: Tournament angler Josh Rockefeller reports, “Fishing has gotten tougher with all the changing weather. We are still catching fish in the ditches on the Buckeye Lures Jiggin’ Blade in the clearer water where you can find it. As you work up either ends of the lake, the water gets more stained, and I’ve found fish biting a red crawfish colored crankbait. I’ve been throwing the Bandit 200 series, as well as a Storm Wiggle Wart on the deeper banks. As we move closer to late March and early April, the fishing will get much better once the fish move off the beds and the herring spawn begins.”

Linesides: Capt. Eddie Mason reports, “We’re fishing on downrods right now in about 30 feet of water going down to the bottom and coming up three turns. The fish should be in the backs of creeks right now, but due to all the rain and the fact that they’re pulling water 24 hours a day seven days a week, the fish are being pulled out onto the river points and the mouths of the creeks. We’ve been catching them good, but the spring bite is really becoming awesome and should be on fire in the next week or two. We’ll be going after them with downrods and planer boards.”
