Hunt Story
I was in the stand at 6:00 a.m. on November 24. At approximately 7:25, I saw a nice 8-pointer leaping out of the thicket, soon he was run off by a larger 8-pointer. The larger buck was with a doe. I knew he was a shooter buck in Macon County. I took the 130-yard shot and hit him in the lower shoulder. He did not run, so I shot him in the neck. He ran back into the thicket. I shot again, but missed him. My dad texted me to see if I had shot and I told him that I did. My dad said, "Since it was a cold morning and during the rut, we would continue to hunt just in case another buck showed up." At approximately 10:15 a.m. my dad and I went searching for a blood trail to follow. We were able to find hair and some blood, then it stopped. My dad asked me to stay with the last blood we found, and he made a wide sweep looking for more blood. My dad was about 75 yards from where I was standing. He found the deer looking up and he finished him off rather than taking the chance of him running and never finding him. I went to where my dad was at and saw this awesome buck.
