Hunt Story
I was hunting a subtle ridge in a stand out of 11 year old planted pines that has always seen a lot of deer traffic over the years. Groups of does use this area regularly, so my approach is to try and remain undetected. I pay attention to the wind, use every scent control measure I can, and I wait quietly. I stayed on the stand late on the 5th due to the full moon, and my buck was the 8th deer to slip by. He gave me an easy 25 yard shot at 12:14 pm. Patience paid off, and the buck fell after a 40 yard run.
