Lake Blackshear Fishing Report – December 2007
GON Staff | November 27, 2007
Blackshear: Level: Full pool. Temp: Low 60s. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: “Up and and down and spotty,” said Ernie Broughton, who runs the Blackshear Buddies tournament trail. Ernie said the fish hadn’t schooled up yet and were being caught a variety of ways ranging from spinnerbaits, crankbaits and worms to Pop Rs. Grass seems to be the key lately. “The bass are right up in the grass,” said Ernie. “Even more so than docks or trees — that’s what everyone is saying, and fairly shallow, too. They are in 3 to 6 feet of water and not any deeper.”
Crappie: Good. “Not excellent, but good,” said Rusty Parker. On a recent Saturday and Sunday Rusty caught 25 each day fishing minnows over a big, deep brushpile. “The brush is in about 32 feet of water and comes up to about 17 feet,” he said. “We’ve been anchoring out over the brush and dropping minnows at different depths over the brush. We have been catching a few dinks, but most of the fish have been good sized.”
