Lake Eufaula Fishing Report April 2016

GON Staff | March 30, 2016

Eufaula: Level: 1.7 feet below 190 pool. Temp: Mid 60s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Tournament angler Les Bratcher reports, “Lake Eufaula is on fire right now as the spawning season is in full force. Bass are being caught in all depths of water just about any way you like to fish. The tournament season is in full swing with it taking mid-20s to win. The fishing will continue to be great for the next few weeks as different waves of bass move up. Just come on over and give it a try, and you will have fun.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “The osprey are on their nests, and the dogwoods are already starting to bloom—God’s way of reminding us spring is almost here. The water is holding steady in the 60s now, and the river is clearing up. All this points to a hot April fishing experience—don’t miss out on all the great fishing. The bass are moving up, and the shallow cover is greening up. The shad will be there, and the early morning frog bite will be awesome. The deep cover is still a good bet when the shallow bite slows down.”

Crappie: Good. “The crappie bite at Eufaula is beginning to get hot,” Sam said. “Big numbers are just around the corner, and some of the crappie coming in are really big.”

Note from Sam: “Please check our www.alabamachildrensclassic.org, and see our opportunities for you to help the families at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. The 5K walk is April 16 at Lakepoint State Park.”
