West Point Lake Bass Fishing Report: April 22, 2025

Chris Gray | April 22, 2025

Tyler Bone with a 3 1/2-lb. West Point bass caught in a club tournament Saturday.

West Point: Level: 3.5 feet below 635. Temp: 70 degrees. Clarity: Slightly stained.

On April 19, 2025, we had our club tournament on West Point Lake. We started off the morning fishing a shad spawn on some rip-rap that we located back in a creek. We caught several small spotted bass on white buzzbaits along the rip-rap. We also caught some very large hybrids that were mixed in.

For the next few hours, we focused on shallow docks and were able to put some quality keepers in the boat, including a 3.5-lb. largemouth. We caught fish on docks using a watermelon-red Trick Worm on a 3/16-oz. shaky head.

After about 10 a.m., the bite got a lot tougher, and we were only able to cull a few more times before weigh in. I was told by a few other anglers that they still located some spawning fish, but I believe the spawn is about over with.

Try to catch some good fish early during the shad spawn if at all possible. Good luck!
