Hunt Story
I was sitting on the couch when my wife said, "Why don't you go hunting?" I thought to myself I spent a lot of time in the woods this weekend only to see does and a small buck, so I said why not. I told my dog Jax to get up boy I'm going hunting. He started barking hysterically and I kissed the dogs and my wife grab my backpack deer stand and my bow and went down behind the house in a white oak bottom. I climbed in a white oak tree at the bottom of this ridge and within minutes I saw movement. I noticed it was a good buck as it approached it came in about 20 yards. I couldn't shoot because of the dogwood limbs so had to watch the buck for around 5 minutes. I was shaking uncontrollably. The buck walked toward a basketball-sized hole about 12 yards away. I drew my bow and shot, the hit was perfect. The deer ran into a mountain laurel thicket downhill. I called my wife, my voice was chattering so bad all she heard was I just shot a nice buck. I had to sit down before I fell out of the tree, so I calm down gathering my stuff, my bow hanger, my backpack, my quiver, and I lowered my bow climb down and went to where I shot the buck. Instantly I saw good sign. I started to follow the trail and about 70 yards later I saw my buck belly up. I shined my light, and when I pulled his head out of the leaves, I said, "Goodnight that's a dandy mountain buck." Looking at my buck I said to myself I have the best wife in the world, thank you Lord for this moment in this great mountain buck.
