Casey Grover (middle), of Douglasville, killed this 12-6 on Lake Seminole. Also on the hunt were Derrick McNab (left) and Hunter Childs.

Gator season closed after the first week of October and ended with 408 gators being harvested. That’s the second-best year recorded since WRD started hosting a Georgia alligator season in 2003. The season with the most gators ever taken was in 2023, when 471 Georgia alligators were killed.

The biggest recorded gator from the 2024 was 164 inches (13-7) in length. Although GON hasn’t heard from the hunters, WRD says it was taken on Lake Seminole.

As GON always does in November, we empty the file of those gator photos we received. We published a good many last month, and they are currently at https://gon.com/hunting/gon-gator-gallery-2024.

Chandler Tieman, 12, of Bishop, didn’t let a broken arm keep her from hunting this 8-1 gator at Lake Seminole on Sept. 1.

Josh and Lesli Smallwood, of Temple, with a Zone 7 gator taken in McIntosh County on Sept. 14. The big lizard went 9-10 and weighed 200 pounds.

Teddy Elrod and Bert Deener teamed up with Tim Bonvechio (pictured) and helped him land this 7-5 Glynn County alligator on Aug. 24 on private water.

Andy Bedgood (right), of Rincon, and Sawyer Hunt, of Clyo, tagged this Savannah River alligator just above Tuckasee Boat Ramp in Clyo. They killed it during the day on Monday, Aug. 19. They hunted for three hours. From hook-up to dispatch, it took just 15 minutes. It measured 11-5 and weighed almost 650 pounds.

Marc Seguin II, of Guyton, with friends Hershel and Dylon Wise and a 12-9, 638-lb. Chatham County gator.
