Lake Burton Fishing Report – October 2024
GON Staff | September 25, 2024
Burton: Level: 2.9 feet below 1866.66. Temp: 78 degrees. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “The bass bite has been good lately. We have caught a lot of fish in the mouths of the creeks in and around brushpiles and rock ledges that are near deeper water. Working the bank lines with plastic worms has been working best. Try using a 1/8-oz. slip weight Texas-rigged worm. Pumpkin seed has been the go-to color. Cast these toward the bank and work them slowly back toward the boat. The best depth has been in 14 to 20 feet of water. We have seen some topwater action the last day or two. A Berkley Magic Swimmer in olive-bone color is a great bait to use. The topwater bite should continue to get better as we head into later October.”
Trout: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “The brown trout bite has been a little slow, but we have been catching a few fish all the way back in the creeks. The fish we have caught have been biting Panther Martins in no particular color, but the gold blades are best. This bite will get better in the next week or two as the water temps fall into the upper 60s.”
