Sinclair Bass Fishing Report – Aug 28, 2024

Ronnie Garrison | August 28, 2024

Sinclair: Level: 1.8 feet below at 340. Temp: 82-85 degrees. Clarity: Light stain in the Little River.

The Spalding County Sportsman Club fished Sinclair on Aug. 24 from 6:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on a cool morning, a hot midday and no clouds but some breeze. Eleven of us landed 15 keepers weighing about 26 pounds. There was one limit and five zeros.
I won with five at 7.97 pounds and had a 3.19-pounder for big fish, barely beating Billy Roberts’ 3.15 pounder. He placed second with three at 6.60. Billy said he caught his 3-pounder on a crankbait early in a grassbed and landed another keeper on a Carolina rig. His second biggest fish came from a dock on a worm.
Raymond English had to leave early but had three at 3.87 for third. He caught his three on Trick Worms on seawalls and grass.
Kwong Yu came in fourth with two at 3.51 pounds. Kwong said both his came on Trick Worms near grass.
I quickly caught my second biggest bass on a Trick Worm from grass within 15 minutes of starting. Then, I got a keeper on the Trick Worm off a seawall in the shade about 8 a.m. Around 9, I caught a keeper on a shaky head from brush under a dock. Then I got the big one off a seawall beside a dock on a Trick Worm. It hit right on the bank and went under the dock. I pulled it off the first post, then it got around the last post on the dock. I was lucky to land it.  My fifth keeper hit a wacky-rigged Senko under a dock at 11. It was junk fishing at its finest!
I think it took 16 pounds at Berry’s on Saturday. One of the Middle Georgia College fishermen had two 7-pounders in their tournament Sunday, and it took 10 pounds for second. The old Creel Census Reports seemed to indicate my clubs were about average.
