Clarks Hill Lake Fishing Report – September 2024

GON Staff | August 28, 2024

Clarks Hill: Level: 4.8 below 330. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: D.J Hadden, with Hadden Outdoors, says, “September is a month of transition for the herring and the bass on Clarks Hill. The lake level should stay down 4 to 6 feet. The bluebacks will start to move to main-lake points and humps. Surface activity should pick up all through the month. I am going after these fish with topwater, like a chrome Gunfish or a chrome Evergreen 125 and a white Zoom Super Fluke or Spro Sashimmy. Fish will get in the tops of brushpiles throughout the lower half of the lake, extending back into some creek arms. Those fish will be looking up for passing schools of bait. Later in the month, the shallow water will get better in the backs of the creeks and drains anywhere there is wood in the water. Run buzzbaits over the wood, and work a jig or shaky head through it.”

Jon Hair, with Greenfish Tackle, says “Shorter days are making bass start to move up shallow. Guys are catching them running the bank with the Hammerhead Buzz and Toad Toter Buzz buzzbaits early. Then they are moving to rocky points and brushpiles and working them with drop shots and Creeper Head shaky heads when the sun gets up.”
