Lake Sinclair Fishing Report May 2017

GON Staff | April 26, 2017

Sinclair: Level: 1 foot low. Temp: High 60s. Clarity: Pretty clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Mark Denney Jr. reports, “The spawn is pretty much over, and the bass now have other things on their mind as we roll into May. With the warm weather here to stay, the bream and blugill spawn should be a predominant pattern before we transition into summer. Topwater Pop-Rs and prop baits are both great choices for targeting these areas. These presentations should also be productive around any mayfly hatches that are notorious for showing up this time of year. Once the sun gets up, try switching over to a swim jig or ChatterBait around grass and docks. These baits still mimic a bream or bluegill but are excellent choices for presenting a bait lower in the water column. If the fish aren’t willing to chase, I really like a Texas-rigged Zoom Ol’ Monster worm or Brush Hog pitched around any wood cover. These techniques should get you a few bites and help you catch a good limit of fish throughout May.”
