Hunt Story

My son and I have made many trips to the woods over the past couple weeks trying to get him his first buck. He shot a doe opening day of youth season and felt like he had confidence now to go after his first buck. We had seen several bucks over the past couple weeks, but nothing that he felt like he wanted to shoot. As we made plans to hunt that afternoon I let him pick out the stand he wanted us to go to and we talked about what type of buck he wanted to shoot. I felt very confident in the spot he had picked out because we typically see a lot of bucks there. When we got into the stand we began to see smaller bucks and does filtering through the pines headed to an ag field. When the 9-point appeared out of the woods he immediately said that's the buck he wanted to shoot. It took the buck almost 45 minutes to get within a safe shooting distance for my son. When the buck got to 50 yards and was broadside, I told him to go ahead and shoot. He hit the buck perfectly behind the shoulder and he ran about 30 yards and fell over. A very special moment to be with your son when he gets his first buck! Congrats Wyatt!
